Madeira Natural Park
In 1982, the Madeira Natural Park was founded with the sole purpose of protecting the natural ecosystem, the flora and the fauna that are in danger of extinction.
The reserve occupies nearly two thirds of Madeira Island. Within the Madeira Natural Park are the following reserves:
- Laurissilva Forest
- Garajau Nature Reserve
- Rocha do Navio Nature Reserve
In the above nature reserves it is strictly prohibited to disroot plants or harm the environment in any way.
