Ponta de São Lourenço Nature Reserve
The extensive peninsula of Ponta de São Lourenço is located on the most eastern tip of Madeira Island and measures an approximate total of 9km in length and 2km in width. The Agostinho and Farol Islets belong to the peninsula. The vegetation shows off a desert-like landscape and high rugged red coloured cliffs boats out of the ocean. In 1982 this area was declared a geological nature reserve with the main purpose of perserving its flora and fauna.
