Walking holiday Quinta Alegre

Hiking package for beginners in a privately run hiking hotel in a top location with peace and guaranteed sea views. Nearby is the Levada Nova and the UNESCO-awarded hiking area in the laurel forest of Rabaçal. The hikes are partly on the levadas, on the plateau and also in the mountains with easy to medium difficulty. In some cases, even the host walks with you in small groups or individually. The word "Alegre" (= "joyful") is lived by all employees and ensures excellent service. This all-round carefree pampering package is ideal for getting to know the island of Madeira. Land and people as well as flora and fauna are free of charge!

The offered Walks:

RABAÇAL - IN THE REALM OF WATERFALLS
Drive to the nature reserve of Rabacal, the Unesco World Heritage Site, descent to the forest house and through the Laurazeenwald (may flower trees, laurel trees, tree heath etc.) with numerous waterfalls. Hike first along the Levada do Risco, then to the 25 springs. A walkable tunnel takes you back to the southwest coast.

PONTA SÃO LOURENÇO - THE EASTERN CAPE
Drive to the eastern tip of Madeira and hike in the geologically so interesting area with views of the neighboring islands of Desertas and Porto Santo, gigantic panoramas of the rugged north coast.

THE HIGHEST PEAKS
We recommend experienced hikers to hike from Pico Arieiro to Pico Ruivo (1862 m) and on to Achada do Teixeira. Your summit ascent with fantastic views of the mountains of Madeira.

CALDEIRÃO VERDE - THE GREEN CAULDRON
One of the most beautiful Levada hikes. Through jungle-like nature you hike to the green basin, here a waterfall pours from a height of approx. 100 m into a basin, the Caldeirão Verde.

FANAL - THE FAIRY TALE FOREST
The hike leads through heather and broom over the Paul da Serra plateau above the green laurel forests of Rabaçal. The highlight of the hike is the fairy tale forest Fanal, in which the largest and oldest laurel trees are located.

LEVADA MOINHO - LEVADA NOVA
During this hike you will get to know two different levadas. The lovely Levada Moinho, which leads us along banana fields and terraced gardens. We return to the Levada Nova, which is hewn into the rock, under a rushing waterfall and a 200m long tunnel.
