Depending on the weather, in June or July, the cherry is picked and sold, and around the same time, a huge festival is held in honor of the cherry, which also takes advantage to acknowledge some of the delicacies made with this fruit.
The Quinta Jardim da Serra with its huge 50,000 m² garden is a beautiful and hospitable property, with extreme picturesque surroundings. Mountain hikers are welcome and are guaranteed a comfortable and relaxing stay.
In the nineteenth century, British Consul Henry Veitch was so enchanted by the natural beauty of Jardim da Serra that he decided to make it home and build a magnificent property that is known today as the Quinta Jardim da Serra. Nearby the property exists a mausoleum which is his eternal resting place.
British Consul Henry Veitch was also responsible for directing the first tea plantation in the nineteenth century. Many praised this tea, but it is believed today that it no longer exists.
