Island Tours
Porto Santo is famous for its 9km fine golden sandy beach. But the approximately 11km long and 6km wide island has much more to offer. On our excursions we show you the sights of the island. Admire the rare rock formations of the 283m high volcanic cone "Pico Ana Ferreira", enjoy wonderful views of Porto Santo and the neighboring islands of Madeira and the Desertas from the vantage points "Portela" and "Pico das Flores", experience the highest mountains of the island, the "Pico do Facho" and the "Pico do Castelo", relax in the beautiful gardens of the Quinta Palmeira and experience the former life of the Porto Santensen with a glass of island wine.
You can choose between a bus and a jeep tour and get all the information about land and life on Porto Santo in English.
Tour 1: Bus-Tour
The first stop on this excursion is the lookout point Portela, where there are also three of the typical windmills of Porto Santo. Enjoy the wonderful view of the south coast of Porto Santos before it goes through the east of the island on the Pico do Castelo (437m), on which the population has taken refuge in pirate attacks. Through the center of the island, it goes to the west, where a visit to the Quinta Palmeira, a beautiful garden with bird park, pending. Finally, the tour takes us to Calheta, the southwesternmost point of the island.

Tour 2: Jeep-Tour
The jeep tour takes us first to the west of the island, to the lookout point Pico das Flores. From here you have a wonderful view of the islands "Ilheu de Cima" and "Farol" as well as the mountains "Pico do Facho" and "Pico do Castelo". Continue to Pico Ana Ferreira, whose impressive basalt formations are a geological rarity. In the center of the island we visit the Quinta Palmeira, a green oasis with endemic vegetation and a small bird park. Through the northern part of the island, it goes on the Pico do Castelo with stunning views of the island and further to the east, where in an old country house the former life on Porto Santo gets illustrated and can taste a typical island wine. From the viewpoint Portela, where there are also three island-typical windmills, we enjoy another view over the island.
